Rural Electrification

Lighting Up Lives

Over 85 million Nigerians live without access to electricity, particularly in rural areas. For these communities, solar power is not a luxury—it is a lifeline.

Catalyst Solar Energy develops mini-grids and community solar projects that deliver electricity to entire villages, schools, and health centers.

  • Solar Mini-Grids: Centralized solar systems powering multiple households.
  • Solar Street Lighting: Enhancing security and productivity in rural and urban communities.
  • Community Partnerships: Working with NGOs and local governments for sustainable impact.
Benefits
  • Affordable electricity for underserved communities.
  • Economic growth through powered small businesses.
  • Improved education and healthcare services.
Case Study 3: Rural Community Electrification in Kaduna

The Challenge:
Sweet Crust Bakery, a fast-growing Abuja business, relied heavily on diesel generators to power ovens, mixers, and refrigeration. Fuel costs exceeded ₦1.2 million per month, eating into profit margins. Frequent breakdowns also disrupted production.

Our Solution:
We implemented a 20kW solar-hybrid system, complemented by a robust battery bank to handle heavy loads during peak production.

The Results
  • Over 400 people gained reliable electricity.
  • The health center now operates 24/7, with refrigeration for vaccines.
  • Farmers increased crop yields by 40% using solar irrigation.
  • Children study at night, improving education outcomes.
